Evaluation
1) In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge the forms and conventions of media products?
Compared to that of a professional music video, 'Mr Brightside' by the Killers, this is an indie/rock song which is the same genre as 'Jimmy go home' so it is suitable to compare to. Our media product uses the codes and conventions of music videos to try and make our music video as realistic as possible. We have used some narrative and some performance footage for our music video, this is what happens in the music video 'Mr Brightside'. In this music video, the lyrics are amplified through the video, we decided to amplify the lyrics, so after going through the song in the planning part of the project, we created a set of story boards to try and show this.
2) How effective is the combination of the main product and ancillary texts?
The combination of the main product and ancillary texts are quite effective, I have used a similar artist to compare the digipack to our product. They have a large title on the front cover with an image, we have also done this to make it eye catching. There is contingency on the digipack, each section has a similar theme, we have done this with the waves, spots and bright colours. On the professional digipack, there is a short biography of the artist and a track listing on seperate sections, we have done this on our digipack, however our track list doesnt have a large font like the professional one. For our poster we went for a similiar approach, we have an image of the album on the poster, we also have information on our poster such as a website, name of the artist and album, these are all features on the professional poster aswell. We have followed typical features of professional posters, however we havent put an image of the band on the poster, this is because the band is on the album cover which is quite large on the poster.
3) What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
This is Tomas, I asked him to watch our music video and honestly tell me what was good and what was bad with it, he said that video was amusing to watch, and there was a good pace of editing for the clips which made it fit better. He said that the plot of the story seemed to get a little bit confusing when they were kicking Jimmy out of the house.
4) How did you use new media technology in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?
Planning
For the planning process we used Blogger so that we could organise our work and keep track of what we could do. We also used this so that we could share what we had done with the other members of our group and the examiner. To find a band whose music we could use and and who we could use to film, we used a few websites including Myspace,Facebook and Youtube so that we could get in touch with bands and find out what they are like to make sure they are willing to be filmed and let us use their music.
Research
When we were researching for our music video, we needed to decide what music we were going to use to film. We used a few websites, such as Youtube and Last.fm to research unsigned bands that we could use.

Construction
To create the digipack and poster, we used a digital camera to capture our images and used Photoshop to edit them and create the posters and digipacks. We used the XM2 camera to film our footage for the music video. When we had finished gathering the materials we needed we went into the editing suite and used Premier Pro to edit the footage we filmed. We also used Photoshop to edit the pictures we had taken for, and to create the poster and digipack.
